Bob's plan seem very effective... because it is designed to be baked into the org ... rather than it being just another policy statement, which there's a lot of. Words and not much action.

I know there are legal issues around this. As far as I know other than EEOC rules.... I think it has to be voluntary.

This is a question I’ve asked for a long time. we cannot change the lack of diversity in industries.

Reach out to schools and universities where potential members might be growing

I would not take it on face value that diversity in your space isn't out there in the country/world if you don't see them in the current membership. Often, spin off organizations started for non-white, non-western constituency who didn't feel enough belonging or experience enough equity with us. It may be a workforce development initiative is needed, one or more orgs in the same sector can do this. It may be "over sampling" for visible roles is needed, board, speaking, writing, etc to increase representation. It may be that "upskilling" your current members around DE&I is needed. The issues are certainly complex, and not all in our control. My personal thinking is to have a bias toward systemic solutions over individual interventions.

Our membership is available “regardless of religion, race, ethnicity, age, creed, national origin, gender, level of ability, gender orientation or marital status” and its important to remember inclusion and diversity training efforts is for a large umbrella-
