Brecht Putman

Bandaid!
Lori Gracey
28:10
Hybrid is so very expensive to do.
Donna Denley
28:44
Expensive and can be more work.
Caitlin Adams
28:50
I think you turn off the people who attend in person and expect to see certain people or a certain feeling of a lot of people. It is like going to a poorly attended party without the cool kids.
Takeya Galloway
29:18
We're concerned with making the in-person content worthwhile along side having to produce a robust virtual conference

29:41
Trade show floor and F&B seem to still be major sticking points for the in-person events so far.
Caitlin Adams
30:00
People are so desperate to network and you rob them of that larger experience with a hybrid.
Betsy Totten
30:03
I certainly hope it is a band aid - face to face is so important. 2021 is the year of the Hybrid meeting for sure....
Lori Gracey
30:12
I agree, Caitlin. It just feels like second-best. But I do think it's what many of our members will expect for the future.
andy darmohraj
33:49
The hardest thing to figure out is will people feel safe to travel when the meeting happens
Lori Gracey
35:36
So many of our big exhibitors have said that their people can't travel until at least second quarter of 2021 and maybe longer.
May Ling Brantman
37:03
Also with the American Thoracic Society - we're using our local chapters and testing the temperature regionally since it varies so much
Deb Goedeke
38:20
At Discover Albany we are receiving RFP's for 2022 and beyond....
Jimmy Le
38:57
That's great Deb!
Brecht Putman
38:59
https://www.covideventriskmodel.be/ Free Online tool by the Belgian Government to test your Covid safe event. Applies to Belgian laws but free to use for everyone. We are having a second wave now and are looking forward to welcoming groups again.
Betsy Totten
39:47
From a booking standpoint, there is certainly more being booked in 2023+
Lori Gracey
39:51
Our big conference (13,000 attendees) is in February. We are completely virtual for 2021, but have high hopes for a hybrid in 2022.
Anastasia Courtney
39:52
Thanks, Brecht!
Deb Goedeke
43:30
E-sports are big for after hours
Emily Frizzell
43:51
Yes! I'd love to have the virtual sponsorship doc.
Anastasia Courtney
43:52
Thanks, Lewis - can you share that list?
Cecilia Fedyn
44:10
Great ideas Lewis. Thanks for sharing!
Lori Gracey
44:15
We are talking about having an Among Us! game night to get people more engaged.
Allen Kantorowitz
46:04
There are currently trade association in NYC that are researching afternoon cocktail events for 25 - 50 people (rooftop) with speaker in closed hotels.
Lori Gracey
56:06
We are putting on several virtual events with 8 or 9 other affiliates like ourselves. (I"m from Texas.)
Lori Gracey
56:46
They are from all over the country and Canada and it's working very well.
Lori Gracey
57:44
It takes a lot more work to coordinate, but is well worth it. We are even partnering with Illinois for our big convention.
Cecilia Fedyn
57:50
Slack is a good platform to use as a virtual headquarters to share real time content, info and engagement.
Deb Goedeke
58:13
The more collaboration the better.....more resources and marketing dollars
Gayle Goldner
59:45
Good points
Deb Goedeke
01:00:43
Thinking the same thing.....what image are you projecting?
Betsy Totten
01:06:13
You have to stay close to your CVB and hotel partners and share updates along the way.
Jimmy Le
01:06:29
I agree Betsy.
Betsy Totten
01:06:34
Lots of LOIs being offered to provide the needed peace of mind
Brecht Putman
01:08:23
The second wave is real, and hitting harder than the first wave (in Europe at least, where ICU’s are almost full). Belgium about to go back into a second lockdown. We are hopeful for a reopening part two of 2021. In the mean time the CVB focuses on informing and supporting - our clients but also our suppliers. Tough times for everyone.
Deb Goedeke
01:08:27
You are spot on Betsy, we are all in this together.
Frederique Henriot
01:08:40
my answer to what is coming up is we NEED rapid testings for all public venues, airport, hotels to restart the industry
Gary Weinberg, DM Pros
01:08:46
Optimistic for 2021.
Betsy Totten
01:09:58
The hotels want you to meet - even if in a smaller format. We have to start small and work our way back.
Frederique Henriot
01:10:20
if we get rapid testing readily available to us ( at a very low cost) and train our security staff and can hire more staff ( many people need jobs right noe) to do that- we could look at events of 500-1000 pax in Europe, the US and Asia...
Deb Goedeke
01:10:37
Thanks everyone...onto the next one... be safe.
Gary Weinberg, DM Pros
01:10:41
Betsy, that's the right approach. Everyone perceives smaller groups are safer.
Gary Weinberg, DM Pros
01:11:18
Holly's meeting speaks to that.
Frederique Henriot
01:11:19
our governments need to step in and making it happen, now that we fought for masks we need rapid testing for a place of « gathering »- I don’t see any other solution
Scott Gerard
01:13:13
Hi Everyone!! Scott Gerard with Solutions+ of NY. Great seeing everyone! Stay Safe
Susan - CT CVB
01:13:20
Unfortunately, some hotels and even convention centers are not even opening until after Q2 2021 and others will closely evaluate every group to determine if profitable to take the business. They cannot affordable to lose any more money, though they want to get meetings back started the owners may not allow.
Gayle Goldner
01:13:27
We appreciate everyone's participation!
Jennifer Sena, CMP - Visit Lauderdale
