Hi from Chicago

46:24
I am walking the Virtual Camino de Santiago, organized by journalist Amy Gigi Alexander.

48:24
Me, too, Gitta!

54:47
I recommend a subscription service that is well worth $3 a month for current Twitter calls for pitches, plus a treasure trove of databases: Sonia.weiser@oppsoftheweek.com

55:15
Nikon is offering FREE online classes all April.

55:20
Weiser's newsletter is published weekly.

55:40
YES to a class on Snapseed photo editing!!!

57:33
From Lynn Armitage: Larry, what transcribing service do you recommend again? I missed that.

57:43
Otter

01:01:59
Me too, Mary Jo. My virtual background is Michael Scott's office from the NBC show, The Office

01:02:38
Hometown expert - been publishing www.nyconthecheap.com for a decade.

01:02:59
Great backgrounds available on VisitTucson.org, if you love the desert!

01:06:44

01:17:55
Beverly, did you dial in with your computer audio or through a phone?

01:18:54
Also important re giving blood... they are looking for people who had the virus!

01:19:01
Seattle is or will be holding a blood drive at T-Mobile stadium (with free parking). Not sure of the dates

01:20:10
Oh yes...gardening. Included this in a story about what we're doing to keep sane.

01:20:27
And a bit of good news from southern Arizona: I'm signed up to give blood on May 17...the first slot that was available within 25 miles of home! People are responding, and the Red Cross has a great system to sign up online.

01:21:07
I'd keep travel going as is, with a focus on inspiration/long term planning. The average person plans a trip to Japan for months, if not years...

01:21:26
Keukenhof Gardens did a virtual tour as they are closed.

01:22:19
Chicago's Garfield Park Conservatory is doing a view virtual tours

01:22:20
I'm looking for ways to support the local food economy in destinations I love. For example, mainelobsternow.com is offering free overnight shipping on fresh or frozen seafood with $100 orders.

01:22:23
People sheltered looking for escapes — and their future travel plans

01:22:30
Top 10 novels set in Japan?? Top 10 Japanese cosmetics you can buy in the US (perhaps with organic botanicals??)

01:22:55
New York Botanical Garden also has virtual tours.

01:23:25
Hi Heather MacDonald from John Macdonald

01:23:38
hi Heather! Good to hear you. I dream about NB a lot. Hope to write more about it once this is over. :) I may even do a road trip once the border opens.

01:24:44
Sensitivity is essential: I'm getting marketing emails - as I'm sure we all are - particularly from resorts and hotels that are messaging as though nothing has changed. Even a few words saying "When you can travel again.." helps.

01:24:54
As all the regional SATW meetings are canceled, can we do a virtual cocktail networking event? TMAC did one last night. Just a thought.

01:25:04
Hey there from Travel Nevada! If armchair, virtual visits to Nevada are of interest to your audiences, we have an online list of resources. If you're interested, email me (Chris Moran) at cmoran@travelnevada.com. Good luck to everyone!

01:25:25
We should have an official SATW cocktail for the event!

01:25:31
Building on what Vanessa Chiasson just said, I think it's important to distinguish between magazine-style coverage and long-term or "evergreen" content. For example, I have a European travel-planning site, and while I address the coronavirus situation briefly, the site will continue to focus primarily on destinations. After all, the person who's holed up at home right now may be thinking about a trip to Paris or Padukah in the future, and he or she may well be searching on Google, Yandex, etc. for destination info. Bottom line: Think long-term, not just short-term!
